I am delighted to welcome you to the Under 8s website. We had a lot of fun last year and expect much more this year.

We aim to provide a safe, positive environment; that enables children to develop their skills and a lasting love of the game. The teams have won many tournaments, however; we only use these to benchmark how the squad is developing.  Mini rugby at Windsor RFC is structured and resourced to give all players the athletic ability and self confidence to enjoy the game, whatever their standard of play.  We are keen for new recruits to maintain and develop the squad.

Our main aim this year will be to develop: creative, attacking teams, who play with pace.  Passing, catching, support and decision making, will be central to training.  Contact is introduced next year.

We run two teams – Rhinos and Chargers.  These rely on all squad members for success and enjoyment.  Players are encouraged to compete, and so the teams are not set.  Team selection for tournaments is based on; Attendance, Attitude and Ability. 

All our coaches are qualified with the RFU, and are fully CRB checked to ensure a consistently high quality of coaching that always places safety and enjoyment first. Most of our coaches began by preferring to get involved, rather than simply watch from the sidelines, and we welcome and encourage parental involvement at all levels, be it as coaches, first-aiders, referees, or just vocal support!
