| Welcome to the U11's
My name is Ray Cox, Head Coach for the U11s at Windsor RFC and I’m delighted to welcome you to the 2007/2008 season. As with previous seasons, the focus for our squad is skills development and fun, both on and off the pitch. We hope that our players develop a true love of the game that will stay with them all of their lives.
This is a transition year for our players as squad sizes increase from 9 to 12 with the addition of 2 players in the forward (locks) and 1 player in the backs (fullback). In addition, our players can kick the ball for the first time which will add an exciting new dimension to the game for them. We are always on the look out for new players, and regardless of ability or experience there is a game to be had by all. WRFC encourages competition, whilst fostering a sense of fair play. All registered players are evaluated after each session, based on attendance, ability and attitude. This forms the basis of squad selection for competitive fixtures, as well as movement between the two squads we maintain. See The good player’s code. All our coaches are qualified with the RFU, and are fully CRB checked to ensure a consistently high quality of coaching that always places safety and enjoyment first. Most of our coaches began by preferring to get involved, rather than simply watch from the sidelines, and we welcome and encourage parental involvement at all levels, be it as coaches, first-aiders, referees, or just vocal support! See The good parent’s code. In the interests of safety and appropriate behaviour, we would remind parents that they (or another nominated adult) are required to remain on hand during the training sessions/matches. I look forward to welcoming you to Windsor U11s soon. If you have any queries, comments or suggestions please do not hesitate to speak to any of the coaches, or contact me directly by e-mail on WindsorRFC.U11s@gmail.com.
| | Training Times and Locations We train and play matches on Sunday mornings at 10 o'clock (although a spontaneous game of touch rugby often begins sooner). We are located on Pitch 6, which is the furthest away from the Club House towards Datchet.
Off The Pitch The clubhouse is open every Sunday morning providing hot food, drinks and sweets with the bar opening late morning. Please note that smoking will NOT be allowed anywhere in the clubhouse on any day from the start of the season. The club shop is open Sunday mornings and can supply you with all the kit your child would need. There is also a box of second hand boots available. See the Club Shop link for prices and a list of the items available.
| | Safety & Well Being Enthusiastic support from parents is encouraged but it is always recognised that enjoyment is the "name of the game" and if a child is unhappy, be it at the level they are playing or even unsuitable attire for the weather conditions, this, along with a child's safety will always be the prime concern of the coaches and management team. Football/rugby boots must be worn (training shoes are not permitted) and must have either moulded studs or removable studs. A gumshield must be worn and this should preferably be a dental fitted type for best fit and comfort. The U11s have 4 First Aiders, but all the coaches are competent in dealing with the types of bumps and grazes the players may sustain. More first aid volunteers are welcome.
| | The Rules of Rugby The Mini Section falls within the R.F.U. Continuum which is a playing and coaching pathway by which Clubs and schools introduce the game of rugby to young players. A copy of the Continuum is held by the Head Coach/Team Manager for you to view at any time and copies are available, free of charge, via the RFU official website (www.rfu.com), click here for the link and see under “Stage 3 - Under 11 & Under 12 Midi Rugby Last updated 4 June 2006”
