Welcome to Windsor Rugby U10's
Mini rugby at Windsor RFC is structured and resourced to give all players the athletic ability and self confidence to enjoy the game, whatever their standard of play.
Having stepped up from tag to contact rugby last year, the main focus this season will be on further developing the basic skills of ball handling, attack and defensive positioning, tackling and contested scrums and line outs. We will also be working on building strength and fitness and ensuring playing etiquette is applied. All the coaches are RFU Level 1 qualified and CRB checked to ensure a basic quality of coaching in a safe, friendly and fun environment.
As the most successful age group in the Youth Section of the club last season at U9, we are always looking for more recruits to help maintain and develop our squad and achievements. Whatever your ability, whether you've never played before or play at school, please come along and meet the squad and coaches and join in. Training sessions during the season are on a Sunday morning at Home Park from 10am to 12 noon.
Please note, it is essential your child wears a mouth guard and has properly fitting boots with moulded/removable studs that bear the safety kite mark. Please also ensure your child is appropriately dressed for the weather conditions and has a drink with them. All required kit is available from the club shop which is open every Sunday morning.
We would also like to remind parents that mini rugby at Windsor is not a creche facility. It is important a parent (or nominated adult advised to the coaching team) is present at all times in case of injury and to supervise behaviour of their child during training or in and around the clubhouse area. The clubhouse is open every week and hot and cold refreshments are always available.
Rugby is also a very social sport and Windsor rugby is very active in this department. During the season there are a number of tournaments, functions, tours, presentations and fun days that are open to everyone. Our age group benefits from a very active parent support base that goes a long way to ensure good communications, well-run events and good camaraderie on the touch line.
