| Welcome to the U13's My name is Ray Cox, I am the Windsor U13 Head Coach, and I would like to welcome you to the 2009/10 season. This is our frst year of Junior Rugby. What does that mean, you may be asking? Well, the first change is the size of the pitch. This season the boys will be playing on a full sized pitch. The next change is the amount of players we can field. This year we can field 15 players,up from 13 players last year, with the addition of two flankers. The next change is the duration of each match - this year each half is 25 minutes. Under the RFU directive, we are now entering into stage 3 of the Long Term Athlete Development ( LTAD),training to train. So our key objectives this season are to introduce the boys to ; core stability, strength & conditioning, agility running, warm ups, cool downs, hydration and nutrition. One of the vital areas we need to focus on is a strong balanced core.Having a strong core will assist with the boys balance in all aspects of sport, as well as aid in the prevention of injuries. We will also be introducing two sessions per week, this will assist us when we start the Berkshire League matches, just before Christmas. So, in summary ,this season is an exciting time in the boy's development, and we can all look forward to seeing some exciting rugby being played this season! We are always on the look out for new players, and regardless of ability or experience there is a game to be had by all. WRFC encourages competition, whilst fostering a sense of fair play. All registered players are evaluated after each session, based on attendance, ability and attitude. This forms the basis of squad selection for competitive fixtures, as well as movement between the two squads we maintain. See The good player’s code. All our coaches are qualified with the RFU, and are fully CRB checked to ensure a consistently high quality of coaching that always places safety and enjoyment first. Most of our coaches began by preferring to get involved, rather than simply watch from the sidelines, and we welcome and encourage parental involvement at all levels, be it as coaches, first-aiders, referees, or just vocal support! See The good parent’s code. In the interests of safety and appropriate behaviour, we would remind parents that they (or another nominated adult) are required to remain on hand during the training sessions/matches. |
